Assalamu Alaikum, by the infinite mercy of Allah, I hope everyone is well. Today I will talk about my pet bird. My pet bird is the pigeon. I have two pairs of pigeons. My Son’s are very happy to get pigeons. Today I tried to write something about pigeons. Pigeons or doves are a kind of popular domesticated bird. Its meat is used as human food. In ancient times, letters were exchanged through pigeons. Pigeon flying competitions have been practiced since ancient times. The scientific name of the domesticated pigeon is Columba livia domestica. All domesticated pigeons originate from wild pigeons (Columba livia). There are about 200 species of pigeons in the world. There are about 30 species of pigeons in Bangladesh. There are these pigeons all over Bangladesh. The climate of Bangladesh and the vast crop fields are very suitable for pigeon rearing. In the past, pigeons were used as messengers and game birds. But the barbarians are being used as a source of nutrition, prosperity, ornamental and alternative income. They can contribute to socio-economic development through proper care, maintenance and management. Pigeon rearing is now not just a hobby and entertainment but it is now considered a lucrative business. Apart from enhancing the beauty of the pigeon house and environment, it can be reared at low cost and with little hassle. Giribaj is very popular among the pigeon breeds in Bangladesh. No more today. All will be well. Afsana Deepa. Lecturer – Social work R.S Ideal College. Kishoreganj.
